New rain water tank by the bungalow

Recently we installed a new rain water tank at the back of the bungalow at the rear of the property. It is situated on a hill that leads down to a creek. We decided to add the tank to save us from having to drag the hose up and down the hill everyday. While we only installed a small tank, larger rain water tanks tend to be more beneficial as you can store a large amount of water from the wet season to use in your garden through dry periods.

An idea that we have used is to dig cannels that flow downhill in the soil surrounding the plants in the garden. We simply have to use the watering can or a large bucket to water our plants.

Warning:
Rainwater tanks should NOT be used as a means of supplying drinking water in urban areas due to traffic and industry emissions that can settle on roofs.
