How to always know which side your petrol tank is on

I'm going to share with you my little secret that I only learnt a few years ago when we got a new car. I couldn’t believe that the answer had always been right in front of me.  If you look at your car dashboard in front of the driver, you will see a small icon of a petrol pump. In most modern cars they have an indicator incorporated into the fuel gauge that shows which side the filler is on.

This indicator is generally a small arrow facing the driver or passenger side of the car. This photograph of my Holden Captiva shows the arrow indicating that the fuel filler is on the left.

Please be aware that I have been told it is only in some model cars that have been built in the last few years. If there is no arrow it means it is on the driver’s side of the car (in Australia).
Feel free to request any other car questions or queries that you may need and Ryan will get back to you. Please write any questions in the comments area below.
